Description
The U.S. Navy and Coast Guard operated radio direction finder stations at coastal sites to detect and determine the bearings of enemy radio transmissions and the bearings of emergency transmissions of airplanes and ships.
The Winter Harbor station was transferred to the Coast Guard sometime after Aug. 1, 1944.
