Description

A Tichnor Brothers postcard of the Maine Turnpike in Kennebunk. The first portion of the Turnpike extended from Kittery to Portland and was built to relieve congestion on Route One. The Maine Turnpike opened late 1947.

The caption reads, "Maine Turnpike at Kennebunk, Maine." The Tichnor Brothers printing company published this type of postcard from about 1930-1945.
