Description

This chart of the Penobscot River was probably drawn by Peleg Wadsworth and shows the flight of the American ships up the Penobscot and away from attacking British vessels. Wadsworth was taken prisoner after this campaign.

The Penobscot Expedition, as it was called, was a failed attempt by the American colonists to remove a planned loyalist community in the Castine area.
