Description

Clarence Hale (1848-1934) was the sixth federal judge in the United States District Court for the District of Maine, serving from 1902 until his death.

The artist, Margaret Rollins Hale, the judge's wife, wrote a booklet entitled Against Woman Suffrage. It was published by The Maine Association Opposed to Suffrage for Women in about 1915.
