W.B. Adams on failed campaign, 1863

Description

William B. Adams of Co. K of the 5th Maine Infantry wrote to his sister Dora in Maine on May 10, 1863 to describe the failed effort at the Battle of Chancellorsville.

He wrote that the fighting lasted seven days and 97 soldiers from the 5th Maine were killed, wounded, or missing.
