Description

During the winter, ice (and sometimes snow) would be cut, taken into the ice house and packed with insulating sawdust or straw. If one were lucky the stored ice would remain frozen for many months, providing a source of ice during the summer. This ice house was located on the campus of Good Will-Hinckley, and was filled with frozen water from the Kennebec River.
