Description
Rosalyne Bernstein gets help from Rabbi Miller, the sofer or scribe of the Bet Ha'am Torah, as she writes a letter in the book. Miller left some letters undone so that congregation members could write them in.
The event was the siyum ha-sefer, or completion of the book The "book" is the sefer Torah, the handwritten copy of the Torah, a scroll that comprises the Five Books of Moses.
In this Reform congregation, women are involved in all aspects of the synagogue, including reading the Torah and the Torah dedication.
