Description

The Lobster Trap Gift Shop existed from the 1960s through the 1970s at this Water Street site between the old Lubec Banking & Trust brick building and Lubec Hardware. The shop was operated by Unobsky’s which also operated a department store a few doors south. Note the curbside parking meter. The hotel to the rear which fronts on Pleasant Street was known in various eras as the American, Merchant’s and Cobscook. The lighthouse appeared on the front page of the old County Wide Newspaper in August 1977 showing Sherry Tinker, age 12, and her dog Sandy by the lighthouse.
In 2011 this location was a parking lot.
