Description
This early map of Falmouth Neck depicts the area as the English colonists settled it. It was dominated by forests and swamps, which dwarf the early settlement. "Falmouth Neck" was part of Falmouth. The title of the map makes reference to the name "Portland," indicating that it was drawn after the renaming of the peninsula in 1786.
