Description
Josiah Pierce (1827-1913) wrote from London where he lived to his aunt Anne Longfellow Pierce (1810-1901) in Portland about the "very appropriate and successful ceremonies at Westminster Abbey ... when the Bust, in memory of your brother Henry, was unveiled in Poets Corner."
He sent along newspaper clippings and other memorabilia.
Anne Longfellow Pierce, sister of the poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, who died in 1882, was the widow of George Washington Pierce, Josiah Pierce's uncle.
