Description

Hopley Yeaton's remains were brought to the Coast Guard Academy in New London Connecticut for reburial on August 23, 1975. A special monument was erected at the Academy and military ceremonies held. Yeaton's remains were disinterred in Lubec at his original 1812 resting place; then buried temporarily at the West Quoddy Head lighthouse, and finally transported by the Coast Guard vessel Eagle to New London for final burial.
