Hopley Yeaton reburial ceremony, Lubec, 1975

Description

Hopley Yeaton’s original gravesite is visible here. The body of “The Father of the Coast Guard” had been removed from the grave on November 1, 1974, and temporarily interred on the federal land at West Quoddy Head. This day, following ceremonies, the body would commence its journey to the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut.
