Tidal power project dam map, Lubec, 1980

Description

This map shows a proposed dam and power plant between Seward Neck at extreme North Lubec to Birch Point in a feasibility study for a tidal power project authorized by the U. S. Senate in 1975. This detailed rendering shows the precise locations of the dam, plant, and navigation lock. Taking advantage of the mean tidal range of 18.2 feet at this site in Cobscook-Passamaquoddy Bay region,, the proposed power plant, never built, was rated at 165 megawatts. This map is contained as page 92 in the report “Investigation of Tidal Power Cobscook Bay, Maine” U.S. Army Engineers, August 1980.
