Description

Biddeford's charter for U. S. Grant post #143, Department of Maine, Grand Army of the Republic is dated 1885. This was Biddeford's second G.A.R. post.

The charter is signed by James A. Hall, Department Commander, and Lorenzo B. Hill, Assistant Adjutant General. The first G.A.R. post in Biddeford, Sheridan #28, was organized in 1868.
