Reward given to Shep Hurd, Bangor, October 12, 1938

Description

In this 1938 letter, Robert D. Schmidt, the Sheriff of Cass County, Indiana, awards Everett S. "Shep" Hurd $200.00 for his effort the previous year in capturing the Brady Gang. Mr. Hurd had alerted the law enforcement authorities to the Brady gang's presence in Bangor. The Brady Gang members were from Indiana and were wanted there for several serious crimes. The reward was donated by Sheriff Schmidt and Mr. E.O. Nagle of Logansport, Indiana.
