Description
The Sanford & Cape Porpoise Railway, established in 1899, ended at Cape Porpoise harbor as a trestle, which allowed schooners to unload their coal bound for Sanford mills. The trestle was abandoned in 1914 and the track relocated along Pier Road over the causeway to Bickford Island. This photograph shows the Cape Porpoise trestle and car nos. 10 and 17, with Langsford Road houses across the water in the distance.
