Contributed by Hamlin Memorial Library and Museum

Description

This Paris Hill Thespian Club printed program is dated Feb. 12, 1864. Two plays are listed; "Nine Points of the Law" by Tom Taylor, and "The Two Buzzards." The plays were given at Academy Hall on Paris Hill at 7 1-2, with doors opening at 7. Parts and performers are listed, and admission is 15 cents, 10 cents for children.

The Paris Hill Thespian Club began in the Hamlin home. Dr. Cyrus Hamlin enjoyed theater and invited friends & neighbors to his home to be performers and audience. When Paris Hill Academy opened in the spring of 1857, the old Thespian Club was revived and the large hall upstairs became the location of theatrical productions through the early 1900s.
