George W. Pierce letter on political appointments, Portland, 1835

Description

George W. Pierce (1805-1835), a Portland lawyer and Democratic Party activist, wrote a confidential letter to his brother, Josiah Pierce of Gorham, president of the Maine Senate, discussing appointments of various political allies.

In the January 1835 letter, he also discusses his own potential appointment as Reporter.

George Pierce died in November 1835.
