Description

George W. Pierce of Portland wrote to his brother Josiah Pierce of Gorham, who was then serving in the Maine Legislature, to report that estate Commissioners "found great difficulty in fixing the value of property according to the direction of their commissions and separated for the purpose of making examinations."

The brothers were co-managers of the estate of their father, Josiah Pierce of Baldwin, who died in January 1830.
