Description

Benjamin Hamm of Bangor became a co-owner of the Bangor Granite Company in the late 1890s. He was also the owner of a quarry in Frankfort.

At the turn of the century, granite from that quarry was used to carve a Soldier's Monument that was then hauled by 12 teams of horses to Hermon Center, where it still stands.
