Rexall Drugstore, Lubec, ca. 1950

Contributed by Lubec Historical Society

Description

Lubec native and physician Dr. Robert Mahlman (1864-1940) owned the Rexall Drug Store in Lubec and it continued in the family, managed by his son Robert Jr. and his wife until the 1970s.

The drugstore was located in a building at the corner of School and Water Streets owned by the Lubec Knights of Columbus and the family leased the first floor until the organization in Lubec was dissolved in the sixties.

Then Robert Mahlman Jr. and his wife bought the building and Mahlman managed the store.

The auto appears to be 1947 vintage. Of the dual portraits posted in the drugstore window, the right-hand image is President Truman.
