Description

This homemade brochure describes the goods and services available at Durkee's Store in about1960. It is typed on a piece of white paper. This image shows the brochure open and laying flat.

Durkee's has a long history on the island. The building was the original Ryder's schoolhouse, built in the 1880s and located at the corner of Main Road and Ryder's Road. In the 1950s, after a previous store burned, the school house was moved across the road and converted into a store.
