Maine Senator Edmund S. Muskie, who used his position on the Senate Public Works Committee to champion clean air and clean water, discusses environmental issues.
He notes that pollution problems can be solved if people were willing to make sacrifices.
He said pollution was called a "highly sexy political subject" but that, while Congress could pass laws, they would have to implemented at the local level and people would have to face the choices that required.
