Barbara Steele, a student in Darby, Montana, wrote on behalf of Mrs. Cooper's class, telling Senator Edmund S. Muskie, a Maine Democrat, that they had been studying the environment, knew of his work on behalf of clean air and clean water, and wondering what they could do to aid the environmental cause.
