Suzanne Clune, 11, of Poland, wrote to Sen. Edmund Muskie, a Maine Democrat, about the condition of the Little Androscoggin River, which she said had become quite polluted.
She wrote that the river had a "most sickening smell" and that "frogs have been seen gasping for air." She said the condition of the river was caused by a log jam.
She wrote, "I am sick of the river like this. Please do something about it."
