Description

Shepard Cary (1805-1866) was born in New Salem, Massachusetts. He married Susannah Whitaker in 1832. They lived in Houlton, where Shepard moved in 1822.

He served in both the Maine State Legislature and the U. S. House of Representatives.

The artist was known both as Albert Tracy and Albert Tracy Haddock.
