Arsene Cailler at left with another member of the Lewiston Montagnard Showshoe Club and a snowshoe club member at center visiting for a snowshoe convention in Lewiston in the 1930s.

The winter conventions drew thousands of people. The international conventions alternated between the U.S. and Quebec.

Lewiston, with some two dozen snowshoe clubs, frequently hosted conventions that featured parades, band concerts, and snowshoe competitions, among other activities.

Le Montagnard was the largest snowshoe club in Lewiston.
