Hannah Pierce on financial situation, Baldwin, 1858

Description

Hannah Pierce (1788-1873) of Baldwin, a single woman who was operating her family home and farm, wrote to her brother Josiah Pierce of Gorham about her continuing problems finding someone to rent the farm and her financial problems.

"I should indeed be very glad of some money," she wrote, "as for the first time in my life, I am intirely destitute, of that article."
