Pedestrian bridge, Brunswick-Topsham, 1936

Contributed by Pejepscot History Center

Description

Although blurry, this photograph is a dramatic depiction of the fate of the Swing Bridge between Brunswick and Topsham during the spring floods of 1936.

Ice and high water helped to flip the deck of the bridge, seriously damaging the 1892 structure.
