Description

John Winslow (1703-1774) of Marshfield, Massachusetts, was a commissioned officer in the British army and led troops on the Kennebec Expedition in 1755.

Winslow oversaw the building of forts in Maine at what are now Augusta and Winslow, which was named after him.
