J. M. Dillingham letter to mother, October 1861

Description

In this letter John M. Dillingham tells of his and his father's safe arrival in Queenstown, Ireland, after a passage of 112 days from the Chinchas Islands, Peru.

He mentions seeing the Confederate flag flown from a ship as they neared England. He also expresses his indignation at this brazen show of rebelliousness. He is glad to to hear all is well at home in Freeport.
