Thaddeus Clark letter on King Philip's War, 1676
Thaddeus Clark of Casco Bay wrote to his mother-in-law in 1676 during King Philip's War to tell her about the family members and friends who had been slain and taken captive in the area of Falmouth (later Portland).
Clark was married to Elizabeth Mitton, granddaughter of George Cleeve, a founding settler of Falmouth. Elizabeth Mitton's mother, Elizabeth Cleeve Mitton, remarried in 1666 and became Elizabeth Harvey.
