A group of teenager and young adult Swedes from New Sweden get ready for a day of cross country skiing in the Swedish Colony. The Swedes brought skiing to Maine as a method of moving around on the deep snows. Students would ski to school and families would ski to church. Over time skiing became a recreational activity.
