Elder Clement Phinney, Standish, ca. 1810

Description

Clement Phinney was a Free Will Baptist evangelist (1780-1855).

He became a Baptist in 1803, stopped teaching school and became a minister. He served at the Free Will Baptist Church in Standish from 1816 to 1825.

A free meeting-house in Gorham was dedicated by Clement Phinney, Z. Jordan, and Stephen Waterhouse, Jan. 9, 1829.
