Description
Constitution of the Granite Cutters National Union, one of the Unions that organized granite workers in Maine in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The first meeting leading to the creation of the Granite Cutters Union was held at Clark Island on January 2, 1877 with the men setting up a temporary organization. A national office was opened in Rockland with the first meeting being held on March 10, 1877. Hall Quarry organized their Union in 1894.
