Hardwood Mountain fire lookout tower, 1925

Description

The Maine Forest Service fire lookout tower on Hardwood Mountain in June 1925.

The steel tower was built in 1916. It is 75-feet high and was built at an elevation of 1,300 feet.

The station looks out into Canada and fire observers often notified Canadian authorities of fires in their territory.
