Forest Service lookout, Soper Mountain, ca. 1920

The Maine Forest Service fire lookout on Soper Mountain. "Tolman" is the watchman.
The wood tower, rebuilt in 1916, replaced the original wood tower built in 1909. In 1924, a 24-foot steel tower replaced the wood structure.
