Description
This three-pronged barrel hoist was used to lift barrels of potatoes. It was opened and put over the top of a barrel and an electric or hydraulic hoist at the other end of the rope would pull the barrel up. By pulling on the rope, the grapple would close and hold the barrel.
Like most farm equipment of the time this barrel hoist was probably locally made, likely by the farmer himself. Because of this, it is unlikely that there is another exactly like it.
