Description

The "Norman II" was a gasoline-engined passenger ferry operating out of Boothbay Harbor. It alternated scheduled service to Squirrel Island and other ports with an older, steam-powered ferry, the "Nellie G."

Shown here leaving Boothbay Harbor laden with passengers during the World War I era, the "Norman II" passes an early steam-powered torpedo boat tied up to the dock in the background.
