Jane Jeffrey Distinguished Service Cross, 1919

Description

Jane Jeffrey (later Ricker) was a British citizen who served with the American Red Cross at an Army hospital in France during World War I.

Seriously injured during a German attack, she was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, only one of a handful of women to be so honored.
