Description

Listed in DATM (1999) as a Portland, Maine ax and chisel maker, 1856.
Size: 1 3/4" diameter, 13 3/4" long with 6" long handle and hand forged ferrule.
Signed: "HIGGINS & LIBBY".

A gouge has a curved cutting edge at the end of of a blade and is used to cut or pare solid material such as metal or wood
