Description

Franklin Simmons, the sculptor who created the Portland Soldiers and Sailors Monument, "Our Lady of Victories," created a plaster model of the work in his studio in Rome, Italy, in about 1890.

The photograph shows a detail of the model of the statue that stands in Monument Square in Portland.
