Isaac Barker, Houlton, ca. 1895

Description

Isaac Barker was a farmer on North Road, Houlton. When clay suitable for making bricks was found on his farm he started a small brickmaking business. The business grew to meet the demand for Houlton's growth. 1n 1894 and 1895 he was producing a million bricks a year. (Cora Putnam, "The Story of Houlton," 1958, p. 173)
