Description

Miniature portrait of Persis Sibley Andrews (1813-1891) of Dixfield and daughter Charlotte, 1844.

Andrews wrote in her diary on Feb. 22, 1844, "Miss Wardwell – a Miniature painter, is here, & she excels in her art, If I am any judge."

Persis Sibley of Freedom married Charles Andrews (1814-1852) in 1842. They had two daughters, Charlotte Buxton Andrews (b. 1843) and Persis Nevins Andrews (b. 1847).

After Andrews death, she married in 1855, Alvah Black (1817-1882), and they had one child, Charles Alvah Black (1856-1899).
