Portland Company car shop, ca. 1900

Description

The car shop at the Portland Company, where log bunks are being made. The ones in the photo are for the Somerset Railroad.

They show the "link and pin" coupler style used on most railroad cars of that period. The coupler was later banned because of the hazard to brakemen.
