Description
In 1917, Olley Fair and other Caribou residents led an effort to build a memorial for Caribou's war dead. The monument was unveiled on May 30, 1918. The Caribou chapter of the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR), a Civil War veterans group, raised the money for the flag pole and flag.
