Tented encampment surrounded by barrels on beach. A wooden boat lies in front of the encampment in Palestine. In September of 1866, George J. Adams led a group of Americans to start a religious community in Palestine to witness the second coming of the Messiah. Most of the followers were from Jonesport, Maine.
