Description

The Wadsworth-Longfellow House on Congress Street in Portland, and the Maine Historical Society headquarters, in the background, are shown in about 1920. Peleg Wadsworth, a Revolutionary War general, built the house in 1785-86. It was the childhood home of Wadsworth's grandson, poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
