Last telephone cordboard, Bath, 1982
The New England Telephone Company's cordboard was the last in regular use in the company's five-state operating area. Operator Yvonne Withington of Rockland was to be transfered to another position when the cordboard was closed March 31, 1982. Service was being switched to an electronic Traffic Service Position System that allowed customers to dial directly.
