Description

In July 1884 the Bangor and Piscataquis Railroad, soon to be known as the Bangor and Aroostook, reach West Cove on the southern end of Moosehead lake. This photo was taken after that but before 1888 when the Canadian Pacific Railroad came through this area from Montreal, Quebec on its way to St. John, New Brunswick. The proximity of the two tracks lead to the place name of Greenville Junction. The B&A track went to the wharf where tourists loaded on boats to go up the lake to Kineo, a well-known resort.
